When
one thinks of the independent music scene, chances are the €rst bands
that come into focus are from
America–Black Flag, Fugazi and so on. Though America’s record
buyers have traditionally supported major label European rock bands,
that same uni€ed spunk has not crossed over to this country’s feelings
toward the European indie scene. Even with bands like Refused carving
their niche in the musical landscape, to many, the European indie world seems like a desert. This prompts a question: How do European indie bands get noticed? Should they buy into the present American trend of gimmicks and marketing, or let their music speak for itself? Though many may try the €rst route, one promising band has chosen the latter. |
